Lin, Linda, Sue, Roy, Len, Brian, Mark, Mick and I enjoyed a leisurely repeat of the December ride from Wimbledon to Woking on the 9th May.  Because of the logistics to get a larger group to the start in Wimbledon by train, we split into two groups. Linda, Sue, Roy and me met at the Basingstoke Station at 9:00 to buy our group tickets [£15.80 each] and caught the 9:24 Basingstoke to Waterloo stopping service from Platform 1. The train was nearly empty and the whole group could have got on without trouble. We got off at Surbiton at 10:16 and caught the 10:26 stopping service from Woking at the same platform - we split up into separate carriages as it was busier and arrived in Wimbledon at 10:34. After a comfort break we headed off for Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park.

Len, Lin, Brian, Mark and Mick met up at the station after us and caught the same trains 30 minutes later. The first group had stopped for a coffee in the park and waited for the second group to catch up. Linda's seat post was slipping down and we were unable to fix it as the seat bolt had stripped its thread - the cafe owner loaned us some tools  - very helpful.

Now all together we headed through the park and down to the Thames Path following the same route as previously [https://basu3acycling.joomla.com/52-wimbledon-to-woking-december-2016 ], so I will forgo the route details.

As it was early, we decided not to stop in Kingston for lunch but carried on past Hampton Court Palace and crossed over the river there. As Sue had a mechanical on my old bike, the sensible ones found a cafe for lunch whilst I effected repairs. From there, we carried on along the river in the warm sunshine, through Weybridge, along the Wey and down the Basingstoke Canal to Woking. We again split into two groups to get the trains back. As the later group got the fast train we all arrived back at Basingstoke at about the same time. An enjoyable ride , even for those where this had been their longest ride to date at about 26 miles.
